Homeschool Program

Seedschool Homeschool Program
for ages 6 to 9
at Twelve Hills Nature Center

If you have been following the adventures of Seed Preschool, you know that we are offering children a rare opportunity for nature immersion through child-led, project based learning. Our older Seedschool children will take these ideas further and develop more complex projects. We envision lots of journaling and documentation; perhaps tracking a plant or animal species found in the nature center over the course of the seasons. Annual mowing of the prairie (which happens in early September) offers the opportunity to learn why disturbance is essential for growth and renewal.  Migrating Monarch Butterflies swarm the native plants in the nature center garden on their fall migration to Mexico, offering lessons on resilience and determination. Winter reveals its secrets through bare trees and open skies. Springtime emerges in a flurry of petals and wings. Plants and animals grow and change, come and go.

We will call this program Seedschool (not preschool) so that older children feel more comfortable with the name. We are interested in developing classes for homeschoolers on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday afternoons. Talk to us about your interests and needs.

We hope you will consider us as a part of your child’s homeschool learning!
